Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in San Antonio

San Antonio is home to a vibrant and diverse Hispanic community, and there are many ways to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in the city. From festivals and parades to art exhibitions and historical tours, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Some of the most popular ways to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in San Antonio include:

Festivals and Parades

The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center is hosting a free, family-friendly festival on September 17th from 11 am to 5 pm. The festival will feature live music, folkloric dance performances, arts and crafts vendors, and food trucks. The San Antonio Hispanic Heritage Festival is another popular event, held in October at Hemisfair Park. The festival features live music, dance performances, a children's area, and a variety of food and drink vendors.

Art and Museum Exhibitions

The Briscoe Western Art Museum is hosting an exhibition titled "The Vaquero: Genesis and Evolution of a Cultural Icon" through October 16th showcasing the history and culture of the vaqueros, or Mexican cowboys. The San Antonio Museum of Art is hosting an exhibition titled "Frida Kahlo: Art, Garden, Life" through November 27th, featuring the life and work of the iconic Mexican artist. The McNay Art Museum is hosting an exhibition titled "Carambola: The Puerto Rican Diaspora in the United States" from September 10th through December 31st.

Historical Tours

Explore the city's rich Hispanic history on a walking tour with the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. The park includes four Spanish colonial missions, including the Alamo. The park also offers guided tours and programs throughout the month of September.
