Harland & Wolff CFO Raman Resigns
Former Senior Kvaerner Exec Departed in December
Former Kvaerner CFO Akshat Raman has ended his employment with shipbuilder Harland and Wolff. Raman joined the Belfast-based firm on May 2, 2022, following a 13-year career with Norwegian engineering and construction group, Kvaerner. Harland & Wolff confirmed to Offshore Energy that Raman left his post in December.
Reason for Resignation Unknown
Neither party revealed the reason for Raman's departure. Offshore Energy contacted Raman regarding his exit from Harland & Wolff but had not received a response at the time of publication.
Focus Shift to Offshore Wind and Renewables
Under Raman's leadership, Harland & Wolff shifted its focus towards offshore wind and renewable energy projects. This strategic move aligned with the company's long-term goal of diversifying and reducing its reliance on traditional shipbuilding.
Company Successfully Secures Funding
Despite Raman's departure, Harland & Wolff has successfully secured significant funding to support its expansion into the offshore wind sector. In September 2022, the company announced a £16 million investment from the UK government for its Methil facilities, earmarked for offshore wind manufacturing.
Bright Outlook for Harland & Wolff
Harland & Wolff's strategic shift towards offshore wind has positioned the company for growth in the burgeoning renewable energy market. The company has also secured contracts for the construction of wind turbine foundations, further solidifying its presence in the sector.
